Periodic Trends:

  • Ionization energy increases across a period and decreases down a group.
  • Atomic size increases down a group and decreases across a period.

Spectral Lines:

  • Emission spectra: Lines when electrons transition to lower energy levels.
  • Absorption spectra: Lines when electrons absorb energy and move to higher energy levels.

Isotopes and Isotopic Notation:

  • Isotopes have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons.
  • Represent isotopes with isotopic notation.

Avogadro’s Number and Mole Concept:

  • Avogadro’s number (6.022 x 10^23) represents one mole of entities (atoms, molecules, ions).
  • Molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance in grams.
